What and what not to include in a resume, format, etc.

I was on r/lifeprotips when I came across a tip saying that I should keep an updated resume even if I'm not looking for a job when it hit me.. I don't even have a resume. I'm a college sophmore computer engineering student looking for advice on what to include in a resume and how to create one. Thanks reddit
