Questions about DWIL charge.

I got arrested Tuesday night for driving while my license is invalid. It recently expired on my birthday. I hadn't gotten it renewed yet because I had two tickets I needed to pay off first. My time served is taking care of one ticket. I intend to pay the other one tomorrow. Once I pay the other ticket, will I be able to go renew my license even though I have court for this on the 14th? More importantly, do I need a lawyer for this?
