Need motivation/advice on a difficult project
I took a music video gig, I met up with the band to discuss the video and whatnot and was disappointed to hear that they really just wanted a video of them performing the song in a small room, I would have liked to do a story based video but I accepted the gig because I've always wanted to work with a local band.
When I got the song I was worried on what I could do since it's a six minute song, we're shooting in one location for three hours, I thought of all the things I could do to get good footage with these limitations but at the shoot the limitations got the best of me, I got good shots but the length of the song is really hindering me now in the editing process, at two and a half minutes it's all getting very repetitive and boring all ready, I'm doing what I can with the editing to make it interesting but I'm worried about doing something that might come off as lazy.
I have thought about putting the video together badly in order to convince the band to shoot in more locations but the band itself has trouble getting together since the guitarist lives four hours away from the rest of the band and he works a full time job, the other solution i've come up with is to talk to the band about shooting some story based stuff but it kind of goes against what they want, which is just a video of them performing to show to promoters.
At this point I've become very frustrated with this project in general I hate opening up the project and putting it together since it all seems futile, I need some inspiration here.
