[TOMT]Kid falls in to a vat of something and gets transported in to a karate world full of animal looking people[movie]

A kid is being peer pressured to walk across a board over a vat (i think). He ends up falling in and wakes up in this karate world. I know there is one animal looking person with a staff. I'm pretty sure he helps these people to fight something, then gets transported back to the real world. Also sometime in the 90's it came out.
I used to watch this movie all the time and can't think of it at all.
