Cleaning the Old Boy

Does anyone here have experience with cleaning the Ill Corona Old Boy lighter? Mine has accumulated black oxidization over the years and now look rather shoddy. It's not soot, it seems to be in the metal. I've tried baking soda, everclear and various cleaners; nothing did the trick.

EDIT: It's the pewter one with the pipe shapes engraved in it.
