Is their any benefit to taking 5-htp before using psychedelics?

I know it is good to take if your using mdma, but what about other phenethylamines or tryptamines? I'm also very curious about LSD. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that almost all psychs work exclusively on the serotonin 5ht2a and 5ht2b receptors, but that LSD works with these and many others. If this were true, would it not make the effects of 5-htp on LSD very minimal? I'm far from an expert and may be way of, but I plan to take LSD this weekend and was curious if i should bother with the 5-htp.
