ELI5: What's the logic behind someone choosing to not allow their Youtube videos to be played on mobile devices?

I noticed that a lot of music videos and official videos from a lot of musicians don't even show up on a search in Youtube using a mobile device. I've also seen that some videos display the error "The author of this video does not allow playback on iPhone." Any idea why?
