"Adam Carolla's 'epic rant' against #OWS" (Or "That's not exactly what he said, but this is still a pretty upsetting mischaracterization of the social trend #OWS embodies.")

I saw this linked on FoxNation and just felt like sharing my frustrations with you, Reddit. :)

First of all, despite Fox News' propaganda baiting website's proclamations to the contrary, this isn't really about Occupy Wall Street protestors, as much as it's against the so-called "self entitled asshole" trend that Carolla is expressing his distaste for. Personally, I don't think he's being disingenuous about this. He grew up in low-income households and anyone who listens to him for any extended period of time knows about his bootstraps-y story of success. So, I really take him at his word that he really believes the things he's saying. It's sad and kind of scary to think so many people honestly think the way he does, and really have no underlying duplicitous intent.

But, I digress. Rich people just "bust their asses" more? This all about "envy"? Disenchanted youths finally grasping the reality of wealth inequality and the rigged system of government just have an 'if I can't have it, no one can' attitude? Carolla clearly doesn't know what he's talking about, if he really thinks hedge fund managers work harder than the guy who has to frame your house for a living. I'm, frankly, insulted. It's hard to know where to even start in dissecting all the wrong and mean things Carolla says.

Comparing us to "the terrorists" is, IMHO, probably the most outrageous comment of them all. (Plus the "they hate us because they envy us" line made me sputter my coffee in sheer incredulity). This frustration just hardens my resolve to be more dedicated to the cause of #OWS.

Someone ought to email him regarding his truly abhorrent ignorance, if only to try to offer an olive branch of education, regarding the reality of our corrupt political system and the motivations of people like those associated with #OWS.
