Is there some unwritten rule about firing rockets at a Pyro?

Not that I care much for unwritten rules, but besides a shotgun switch (if you have one), is there any kind of etiquette or consideration you have as a soldier for nearby team-mates when coming up against a pyro who can reflect?

In what I thought was an amusing situation, I fired a rocket at a distant pyro (full length of the sewer tunnel in 2fort), only to have it reflected, miss me and kill my team-mate who was standing there in view of the pyro before I even arrived. Being shotgunless, I continued on down the tunnel, dodging my reflected rockets until the pyro screwed up and missed a reflect (which he did, and down he went).

Dead team-mate was not happy and blamed me for his death, telling me that "noobs shouldn't fire rockets at pyros in tunnels"! I shrugged and claimed I wasn't responsible for his lack of attention. There was plenty of time to see it coming and get out of the way, plus nothing else was happening in the area but I could see how this could be detrimental in some situations if not careful.
