Thinking of getting an HTC EVO Design, critiques? Reviews?

As it says in the title, I'm looking at getting a HTC EVO Design, any reviews or critiques from someone that isn't paid to do so would be fantastic. I'm looking for just a good honest review.

The reason I'm looking at this phone is because it's sleek, has HTC Sense, but most of all because it's a world phone. I'm going into the Air Force soon, and my job will require me to travel A LOT!

Any other useful information would be fantastic.

P.S. This is kind of a stupid question, but it's more to cover my ass. If I root it and put a custom ROM on it, that won't get in the way of being able to use it overseas will it?
