UI Complaints vs. Degree of Difficulty
A common complaint that I've been seeing regarding the UI is that there no real customization options, it's difficult to keep track of targets (especially for healers/tanks) and buffs can be a nightmare.
There's a certain difficulty to a game that doesn't use mods (such as FFXI) to throw important information at you as you need it, rather you need to parse the information yourself and understand what's going on around you. This leads me to the second part - degree of difficulty.
It seems a lot of people are worried about whether or not the game will "dumb down" in the same way WoW did, and yet they bitch about the UI not being easy enough. Now buffs I can see being a valid concern, but if you want a challenge then you shouldn't make a big deal out of a UI that doesn't hand you everything on a silver platter.
So I'm actually fine with learning the system and keeping track of what's going on around me. A little raid awareness wouldn't be a bad thing for people to learn either. Any other thoughts on this, or am I completely alone?
Edit: Let me be specific. The UI as it stands is far from perfect, and it does need a few changes. I also want Target of Target, default numbers to show, and moveable frames. What I'm railing against is the WoW system where it tells you what to do when. Deadly Boss Mods removes a ton of the difficulty of WoW (for example). The content wasn't dumbed down that much, but the mods got infinitely better to give second by second instructions.
