Recommendations for mp3 players?

I have never owned an mp3 player and am finally getting one. Overall I hate having to use itunes but don't know much about software for managing music either. I usually just buy from amazon.com

So if anyone can give me some good insight on good mp3 players and music management I'd appreciate it
