What's the best alternative if I can't grill outdoors?

I live in an apartment without a porch, so grilling outdoors is not an option for me. I'd really like to be able to grill chicken indoors, but the George Forman tastes like shit compared to an outdoor grill. I've seen some stovetop griddle things, do those work well? I've also been reading about cooking meat sous vide on http://foodwishes.blogspot.com/, does that work well for chicken?
