Why do all journalists & news agencies insist on putting the word "elite" before the Iranian Republican Guard?

I get it... but I don't see the word global in front of the word Microsoft every time I see it... or the word clandestine before the letters CIA. So why is it written EVERY SINGLE TIME the elite Republican Guard? Doesn't this just perpetuate their egos?
