Blue Valentine a date movie?

My girl friend really wants to watch Blue Valentine and so do I. At the video store where I work a bunch of the guys said not to watch it with her. We are an exceptionally close and open minded couple. I haven't researched that much into the movie because I don't like to know anything before watching a movie. I was wondering what your (reddits) opinion was, should I watch Blue Valentine with my girl friend?
