Your thoughts on Gay Pride?

I have a slight (and probably irrational) concern about being downvoted to Hell just for asking this but...

As a kid secure in my sexual identity and in no way uncomfortable with others, I'm still not sure what I think about gay pride. When I was very young, I used to be in the 'gay pride only separates the LGBT community from everyone else'-mindset. I've since grown to be more neutral, in the sense that I'm aware of the fact that I don't know enough about it to make judgements.

With that, I realise I don't have any idea. Like, at all. I've never spoken to anyone about how it helps, or hinders, any sort of collective movement.

So, I'm asking your opinion. Elaborate on your beliefs if you'd like, tell me what you think, discuss, please.
