Bethesda has ballsy writers, and I like them better for it.
You know, one thing I can't stand about writers, especially fantasy writers are people who get too attached to their world. Writers who always are static. Writers who may try to make twists, but in the end... you know things will work out because it's someone's 'baby'.
To see Skyrim take on the back story of the Empire... The Empire that has been the catalyst of the Elder Scrolls series for so long... Literally breaking apart, being conquered by an outside force, it really impresses me.
When I hear people and their hatred for the Thalmor, I love it. I absolutely /love/ the Thalmor. Not as an ideal sort of way, but in a story sort of way. It's so hard to make a villain people want to hate, a villain people remember. It's hard to make a villain people really feel is a threat. Bethesda has totally allowed their world to get wrecked by this villain and I love them for it. I am /so/ excited to see what direction this story goes, and theirs few games I can say that about. So many games always have an end where everything pulls together. Where the status quo is restored. That you Bethesda for not falling into this tedium.
