A friend of mine recently submitted withdrawal paperwork to his college, meant for next semester. They immediately withdrew him for THIS semester, two weeks before the end, offering no compensation. Is there anything he can do?

This is a fairly well known programming/video game design school. Their justification was that, as I understand it, because there were videogames under development and he had withdrawn from NEXT semester, they withdrew him from current classes to prevent him from getting any more information about current projects that he could leak.

That seems incredibly fucked up to me. Is there anything he can do?
