completely new to the series and game cant figure out how to move forward in the advanced tutorial

opps i forgot to mention its shogun 2 i am playing LOL! so sorry! when it comes to the catapults i cant seem to forward the tutorial at all. i keep firing at the units it indicates to over and over and nothing happens. i turned off fire at will and that did nothing . i left it on...nope nothing
