Looking for a little reassurance about my sick puppy dog - advice and/or confirmation of ER vet's assessment.
7 year old Golden. History of ear infections, paw biting and skin sensitivity... but never anything serious. I get home tonight and notice he was itching. I get out the benadryl and give him a few, but also notice at that time one of his eyeballs is swelling. FREAKED ME OUT. On his belly... harder red blotches and his eye was not getting better.
I brought him to the pet ER and the assessment was that he was having some sort of allergic reaction. Nothing new to his environment as far as I am aware and food is the same. It looks like the one is getting worse and am noticing it in the other.
They give him a steroid shot and send me home with more steroids, but his eye that WAS good is now worse. I called the vet again and they pretty much said it was ok and just wait it out.
That is where I am. Just waiting. Hoping that he gets better by morning.
