I just purchased my first hookah. Any tips for a newbie?

I just bought a little 10 inch hookah to start off with. I plan on getting a better hookah if I get into smoking more or if my friends start showing interest.

• How should I properly pack my bowl?

What I have learned so far:

• Do not pack the bowl too tightly.
• When using a regular bowl (not a phunnel or vortex) make sure to leave a "hole" in the middle of the shisha.
• Make sure to clean your hookah thoroughly after use and make sure it is completely dry before packing it up.
• Rust is not good for your lungs.
• Milk in the base of your hookah is probably a very bad, disgusting idea and beer in the base is wasteful.
• Adding ice to the base makes smoke thicker and the taste cooler.
• InstaLite coals are crappy and I should use natural lite coals.
