14 Years (to the day) after Sagan died, I went on some rant at a [7] about space....

I found this on my FB. I posted it last year on Dec. 20th.....

Ok, well, it's like 5 and I'm thinking out loud here....

The universe and everything as we know it works on scale. I'm not just talking about mass, I mean in every way the human can sense. You scale distance and height. Everything can be scaled to something. It all intertwines and interacts with each other within the universe, it just happens on difference scales. From the molecular level to the cosmic level, it's all interacting with itself. The unfortunate thing is that with every scale you climb, the lesser scales begin lose the ability to control their eventual destiny. They all seem to have a purpose to mingle and make things work (i.e nature such as physics and cause/effect), but in the big picture, these smaller scales don't stand a chance. Chance is all they have.

What I'm getting at is that planets, solar systems, galaxies etc. all interact with each other, but since it happens on such a large scale, it takes a much longer time to happen (at least according to the human perspective of time). As you continue to scale out past galaxies a real sense of the size of the universe comes to you. If you haven't seen this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEheh1BH34Q), it shows a comparison of the Earth to the Sun, and then our Sun compared to many other stars throughout the known universe. Our knowledge of stars is limited because of the sheer size of it all. There are some galaxies we know fairly well (Sombrero, Andromeda) but we already know there are so many more out there. The surface has not even been scratched.

But beyond galaxies is what? As far as we know the end of the universe. Dark matter has also recently been discovered as something that essentially allows things to happen in deep space that in turn creates galaxies-> nebulae->stars->planets->life, but beyond that all we really know is the universe. The idea of a multiverse is being thrown around and is sounding pretty fucken obvious at this point, so what my point is, with SCALE, you see everything interacts with itself on a different level. The universe moves around the same way other things do. Things happen to OUR UNIVERSE that effects everything in it. And then things happen to whatever is BEYOND these multiverses and effects them. I propose the next step up to be called a "Millenia", and then keep pushing it. It's relatively endless to the human mind but could really be nothing at all in the BIIIIG picture, so the road to discovery is paved, we just gotta find a way to start driving. I realize we don't have the technology to prove these things yet, but as the scale of everything from the smallest nucleus inside an atom to the huge stars of the universe, everything interacts with each other on some sort of level. And like some really, really slow domino effect, what ever happens to the higher level will eventually effect what happens to the lower level. it just depends on your scale in reference to it all that determines whether you have any ability to change or make any difference to your surroundings at all, or whether you'll even be affected by it.
