Any advice about Skyrim and Macs?

My experience with Skyrim so far has been extremely disappointing. I use a PS3 and have been having horrendous load screens and terrible frame rate issues. The game froze on MY VERY FIRST LOAD SCREEN. Anyway, I had decided that I would just buy it for my computer (MacBook pro) only to find out that that is not possible. I have been reading a lot about ports/bootcamp but am not sure I want to spend even more money for more problems. I have never done anything like this but consider myself pretty technically inclined and feel I could figure it out. Any first hand experience with this sort of thing?
