Are bad marriages part of the Skyrim marriage system?

So far, this is listed as a bug. But I have the sneaking suspicion that it's not. Here's the thing:

I married Aela the Huntress because she seemed strong and independent--even though those damn werewolf twins were suddenly all over my shit after I cured Kodlak. She's active. She likes to get out. I get that. But I don't want my wife dying on one of my many dangerous adventures, so she stays home while I wander all over the countryside. And, shit, I don't even wear that damn wedding ring anymore. Anyway, after a while, she won't cook for me anymore. Even worse, I don't seem to get a good night's sleep when I'm in the same house has her. I only get a Well Rested perk if I sleep somewhere else. Has our marriage turned sour? If it's not a bug, it's kind of brilliant.
