Why does the U.S.A. distrusts atheists?

Here's my 2 cents on why:

Usually, you don't know someone's religion unless they flaunt it about like it's a badge. This is just my opinion, but the majority of people who wear a badge identifying a personal non-majority lifestyle choice (such as a fetish [furries] or religion) are generally unpleasant people, and bring up the fact that they are whatever they are any chance they get. Atheists who have these badges are pretty annoying for me. In my experience, they typically get upset at the smallest thing, such as someone saying "God bless you." (don't even get me started on this, I seriously hope you don't do this.)

The only atheists the majority sees are the annoying, "out and proud" ones.
