Backscatter implementation with Javascript

I am currently working on a research project where data from different major cities in Europe will be analyzed and I have been tasked with developing the visualizations for those.

My next task is to develop aa heatmap for Backscatter data from Ceilometer.

I am primarily using Javascript and Google Charts for this purpose. But since Google Charts doesn't support Heatmap, I am considering using D3.js for doing the heatmaps for Ceilometer readings.

I wanted to check has anyone implemented such a thing / aware of an interactive website providing such displays.
