Gin Snobbery

I have found myself lately becoming a massive Gin Snob.

I dislike the taste of Gordon's and Bombay and almost exclusively drink Tanqueray/10 or Hendricks when I'm having G&T's. I love the citrus notes of Tanqueray and Hendricks & Cucumber is just freakin' divine on a hot day.

I also find that all Gin's need something to activate it. All Tanqueray's need Lime (not Lemon) to bring out its inherit sweetness, Hendrick's needs Cucumber to bring out its soft notes and I find this with all Gin's. I can tolerate Bombay but definitely prefer not to drink it and Gordon's is swill to me.

When it comes to mixed/cocktails, I reach for my trusty Bols Genever. It is a horrid drink when had with Tonic or as a Martini but my god can it mix well with pretty much anything else.

My personal favourite that I recently made up:
1 shot Bols
1 shot Cinzano Bianco
1/2 shot of nice Tequila (I used Patron Silver cause it was in my cupboard)
1/2 shot of Frangelico
equal amount of Lemon Squash
squeeze of lime
Served on Ice.

Tastes delicious and I recommend you don't drive afterwards.

Anyone else become a snob and start to dread the lesser Gin's?
