Best gateway games for non-gaymer boyfriends?

So, the BF had a 360 when I showed, but I've realized he doesn't know what it's like to have a passionate gaymer in the house yet. He wooed me with UFC gaming sessions, but when I moved us on to Gears of War, he was lost with first person and aiming. He also thought Red Dead Redemption "looked like a movie," which is true, but was cute since we all said that the first time we played Mass Effect. Anyway, he wants to play more sophisticated games, but doesnt have the time, patience or addiction to develop the standard gaming skills.

I know straight pals can always get their girlfriends into games with Mario Kart, but we dont have a Wii. He got excited about the two player fun of Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, but I'm looking for other ideas you guys have from experience.
