Why do you consider yourself atheist rather than agnostic?

As of now I do not believe that there is a supreme being that controls earth or the universe, as there is no evidence proving its existence. However, I have seen no evidence disproving the existence of one either. In my personal opinion, it seems a bit hypocritical to denounce something based on its lack of evidence, without evidence to disprove it either.

Just to be clear, I understand that there are a lot of religious ideas that have been proven wrong or are no longer applicable due to cultural changes. I am speaking strictly about the existence of god here. thanks :D
