Please help my settle an argument about .999...=1

My friend thinks its illogical. I showed him this, but his argument is

but imagine youre in front of a wall
and you walk half way to the wall
then you walk half the remaining distance
over and over
you'll never reach the wall

I told him that halving infinitely was an irrelevant proof but I don't know how to convince him.
