Kindle on mac, is swiping backwards?

Just tried kindle on a mac, took me a while, but noticed that the swiping seems "backwards", as in right-to-left swipe on the trackpad takes me back a page, rather than forward. There is no navigational animation like in safari, so I kept fumbling around and resorted to using keys for navigation before I figured it out.

Is there any way to fix this? The preferences seem limited here, can't even change the goddamn font. I hate this app already.
