Centrelink rage. Can anyone help me?
Hi guys, I'm sure some of you have had Centre link troubles at some point in time. Here is my situation.
-
I study full time in Perth
-
I have been working 3 hours a week
-
I was getting $180 a fortnight from Centrelink (youth allowance) - this is now dropping to $75 because my brother is no longer getting his youth allowance (is no longer a student)
-
I didn't earn/work the magical amount to be classed as independent (~30 hours a week over 2 years)
-
I'm not old enough to be independent (magic age is 22)
-
When I called Centrelink to find out if there were any exceptional circumstances, I got told it was "legislated" that for students this was the only criteria and not actually anything to do with being financially independent.
-
My offer to have my parents sign papers indicating they weren't supporting me I was given the above answer again.
Is there anything at all I can possibly do to stop my youth allowance dropping/ be classed as independent ? Thanks in advance
