The Invisible Door

Just looking for some comments, good, bad, basically whatever Reddit thinks.

Heavy eyelids, I’m suddenly awoken by the squealing of the tiny room that won’t sit still.

The chair squeaks as I move to adjust my aching back.

The smell is stale of lost souls and dried tears.

Nearby steel meets linoleum, the sound echoing through the corridor.

Closing my eyes again I can hear their soft whispers coming from around the corner.

Peeking around the corner I see her, nervously clicking her pen, avoiding my gaze.

She walked towards room 8, disappearing through the door as though it wasn’t even there.

I looked both ways down the hall, seeing not a soul I walked towards the ominous door.

From the front it was a regular door; solid wood, steel handle, rubber stopper on the bottom.

Lifting my hand I drew two fingers down the length of the door in front of my face.

The wood melted away, leaving only transparent lines where my fingers once slid.

With my palm I erased more, revealing her deceptive disappearance.

Beyond stood a white stairway; only coldness was emitting from this invisible door.
