I need some help with an old piercing, not sure if this is the place to ask.

This is probably a pretty boring question compared to most of the stuff you guys get, so feel free to downvote this if it doesn't belong.

When I was 12, I managed to talk my parents into letting me get my lobes pierced at the mall. I've since learned that that's not the best place to get piercings, but I didn't have many options at the time. I left the earrings in for six weeks, but after that, I took them out. I've read that you're supposed to keep a piercing in for at least a year afterwards, but it's a little late for that. It's been almost 15 years, and my ears get really red and angry whenever I put earrings in. It normally goes away after two or three days of wearing them and things are happy and fine.

I put in some earrings on Sunday and my ears got red the next day. After four days of wearing earrings, they are still red and painful. I've been treating my ear lobes with isopropyl alcohol, but they aren't getting better.

So here's the deal: is there any hope for my poor ear holes? Can I find some quality studs and leave them in for a while and make a full recovery, or should I let the holes close up and get them pierced at a real piercing studio?
