Best place to solicit help with a fairly small C# app?
I'm pretty new to C# and .NET and I need to build a very small app that will be run manually to grab rows from a SQL database table, then print them to a printer.
The app needs to read two pieces of data from the table as instructions for how to print the information:
-
The number of 'pages' to print.
-
The name of the printer to which the job will be sent.
The remaining data cells will be the data that is actually printed.
It also needs to be printed in two specific fonts and at a specific font size.
It then needs to mark the row of the database with a check digit so that it's not printed again.
I guess I just want to know where I can solicit some assistance for this project. I could pay or trade (not sure what a decent rate would be or how long it would take) for someone to walk me through most of it.
I can build an app to print a text document, that's simple. I can build an app to read and write to a database. I'm just having trouble comprehending how to wire it all together.
I'm entirely self-taught but have been programming lighter stuff and more web-based stuff in other languages for years.
This is my first real foray into a desktop application that doesn't just write log files or check a database.
Any direction is greatly appreciated.
