[Spoilers] A question about Gellar

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the real Gellar did still write all those journals with the tableaux about the doomsday stuff before he died, right? His old student had one of those journals. So, was he a batshit crazy end-of-the-world guy even outside of Travis' mind? Was he encouraging these murders before Travis killed him? Just a thought.
