[Troubleshooting] Motherboard just gives 5 beeps when I try to power up, please help!

I just finished my second build ever, and powered it on to hear the most terrifying noise: 5 short beeps, then nothing. No image on monitor. I googled it and saw that it means "cpu failure" or some such thing. Is it really my CPU? Is there another possible explanation?
