Why do Indian men hold hands?

I'm an expat here, so I'm perhaps a little ignorant of many things perceived as "normal" here. I've seen so many (straight) Indian men have strong physical contact - holding hands, hugging, arms interlocked, rubbing hair etc etc.

Is this "brotherly" or is there something going on that I'm not seeing?
