Moving to Huntsville next school year for college. Any leads on places I should visit once I'm there?

I'm 17 years old right now, getting out of high school next semester and moving in with my dad for college at UAH. I've been to Huntsville and lived there for short periods of time throughout my life for visitation but really want to find some of the hidden gems throughout the city. I'll be staying on the south side of town. (I think... There's a RAVE theater about 2 miles from where I'll be staying to give an idea if it's not the south of town.) Some cool places to hang out and meet people, places to eat, nice shops etc. Would also be nice if I knew some people going in so I don't feel like such a loner at the beginning haha. Feel free to ask me any questions if you think it might help your recommendations.
