DAE love to receive compliments/attention but just not in person?

I seem to be some strange mix of an introvert and an extrovert. I love to entertain and host...but when the attention or praise is on me, such as a party thrown in my honor or an opening night for an art show I'm in, I lose it. I can't stand to have everyone staring at me. I'd rather post it up online and hear a compliment or criticism via text. Of course, that does not lend itself well to the professional world. I just wondered if there are any other extrovert/introverts out there?
