To All Females: Do you like it when the guy plays hard to get?

Hello all,

I'm just a curious and frustrated human male that just seems to never know what to say to a female. My male friends all suggest that I play hard to get with the girl. For example, we would exchange text messages, and then I would immediately ignore her after a bit.

I don't know about females (which is why I am posting this), but I definitely do not like to be ignored by the opposite sex.

My friend's logic is that: you stay in the girl's mind if you ignore her. You make her think "why isn't this guy saying anything anymore?", and (my friend explains) that good or bad publicity is still good publicity.

I know that most things varies from girl to girl, but is this something that draws a consensus among females?

I am so confused.
