Type 1 diabetic intrested in joining the IDF need some opnions.

I am 23 years old type 1 diabetic. Since I was young I have always wanted to join the military. I have done a lot of research and found only one army that will give me a opportunity the IDF. I am a American citizen that is interested in possibly joining. I would have to leave everything behind but I am willing just to fulfill a dream I have had since a child. I am kind of conflicted in the matter I would have to leave everything behind, but I am willing if it creates better opportunities for me. I don’t want to die someday with the regret of not following my dreams. Does anyone have any experience with the IDF? Do you think this is a realistic option or I would be better off staying in America and joining a police force and possibly working on a Swat team?

EDIT The reason the IDF is a possibility is it is the only military i could find that accepts type 1 diabetics.
