Flattening your domey discs, yay or nay?

I was disappointed by the Halloween color glow Chris Clemon's verdicts as they came in extremely domey, and I bought two direct from dynamic before OTB got a hold of them, so I didn't know. To the point where I couldn't throw it comfortably and they don't fly like the verdicts I know and love. I'm used to board flat verdicts. Well, I successfully used this method to flatten those right up really easily. Now they are as flat as I could have hoped for.

I personally don't see anything wrong with this...I have flat verdicts after all, and this method could be achieved naturally by leaving it in the sun on a hot day with some water, probably. But I wanted to see other's opinions on this just in case, since it's not technically how these discs ended up as a final product from the manufacturer.

Would you care if someone was throwing a disc they had flattened (or domed, I suppose)?

EDIT / UPDATE:

Having now played a few rounds with the disc, I can say it flies the same as it did with the dome. So, it really just altered how comfortable it felt in my hand.

I've done it before, both to add dome and to flatten it out. Poured some hot water in the flight plate then stacked evenly distributed weight on the rim to flatten it.

There's definitely nothing wrong with it IMO, there's various levels of dome across the same molds as it is, I was just tweaking mine to fit my hand the way I prefer it. Much easier and cheaper than finding the exact perfect dome of the disc in a shop or online when I already own the disc.

Huh, funny you posted this. Just got my own Clemonaid Verdict and I was hoping it would be flatter too. I think I'll try this if you vouched for it. What's the impact on stiffness? I would think that it may make the disc less but I'm curious what your experience was like.

DGU has done it, the XXL Firebirds.

Have you thrown it yet? Did it change the flight characteristics?

No, I won't be able to throw it until tomorrow unfortunately, so I will definitely update. But, just based on my experience with flat and domey discs, it looks and feels much more like a traditional verdict. Should be much more OS / beefy than before. But, yeah, fair, haven't actually tested it yet.

Please update after you field test them. I did this to a Roc and it ruined the disc. I’m also interested bc i have a Maverick that I love, board flat, but it’s Prime plastic. I ordered a Lucid and haven’t gotten it yet but someone mentioned to me that DD Prime plastic tends towards flat and premium plastics are more domey.

Heyo, sorry for the delay, finally was able to throw the disc enough to get some feel for it's flight.

Ultimately I would say it didn't impact the disc flight at all, only the feel in my hand. As a domey lucid-x chameleon verdict, it flew a little unpredictable and not as overstable as I expected. Now, as a board flat lucid-x chameleon verdict, it still flies a little unpredictable and not as overstable as I expected (and hoped), but at least I can throw it comfortably. Hopefully with more throws I'll figure it out.

Thanks for the update! Would you do it again to a disc?
