What careers combine computer science and medicine?
Okay so, currently I’m a freshman in college, and my first year of college is almost over. I am currently planning to pursue a bachelors in computer science (BA) as well as do some premed requirements and apply to Med school.
What I want out of a career is a career that allows me to do research, but I can still make enough money that I won’t have to worry about anything, which is why medicine and working as a physician seems incredibly attractive to me. Also, working as a physician means I get to feel good about myself for accomplishing a difficult feat, and the patient care aspect of medicine is also very attractive, as I feel like it would be gratifying. But here’s the issue, I would also like to use my degree in computer science if possible. I was considering a career in computational biology instead of medicine, but I’m not sure at all what I want to do.
Additionally artificial intelligence development is another branch that seems very very intriguing to me. They get paid a fair amount and I wouldn’t have to put myself in a ridiculous amount of debt like I would have to with Med school. Also, like Med school and becoming a physician, it is incredibly challenging which I like.
Is there a place where computer science and medicine connect, and is that place difficult to get to?
