FCC Emergency Broadband Discounts

Recently the FCC announced that the Emergency Broadband Program will start accepting applications starting on May 12, 2021, if you're household is qualified (low-income reasons or large financial losses).

This program gives temporary discounts on monthly bills that gives

  • Up to a $50/month discount on your broadband service and associated equipment rentals
  • Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands
  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)

This discount (as far as I can see) can apply to Verizon mobile services as they are one of the partners involved.

You should check if your US state/territory has such services here with what they do (fixed for home internet or mobile).

To apply on May 12th here are some steps (copied)

  • Contact your preferred participating broadband provider directly to learn about their application process.
  • Go to GetEmergencyBroadband.org to apply online and to find participating providers near you.
  • Call 833-511-0311 for a mail-in application, and return it along with proof of eligibility to: Emergency Broadband Support Center
    Emergency Broadband Support Center
    P.O. Box 7081
    London, KY 40742

A webinar was hosted going over said topics that is recorded, and you can watch it if you require any more information.

Nice job on the post but I don't see how this particular benefit could be applied to mobile?

Wouldn't that just be Lifeline?
