Has there been any information regarding a plan for people to get their 2nd dose of AZ?

Canada Wide

Amazing news recently about the significant ramp up in deliveries of Pfizer and Moderna, but as per the federal government it appears that there are no planned deliveries of AZ.

Is anyone aware of any public info on how we plan to deal with those people whom have gotten their first vaccine dose of AZ, with no anticipated delivery of additional doses?

I don't know the plan, however, I read that the AZ vaccine is more effective if the second shot is given as least 12 weeks later, so at least there's a silver lining if people have to wait.

There's going to be some issues with AZ supply for a little while. The UK is currently studying if they can mix vaccines. AZ with a Pfizer booster.

If that goes well I could see some Canadians getting an mRNA vaccine for their 2nd because they'll be in abundance for awhile.

I was reading about the AZ/Pfizer. I hope it’s successful, that would be awesome.

Brutal trainwreck of a NACI Update. Now, they keep saying mRNA vaccines are preferred and not to take the first vaccine offered to you but to see if it fits your risk profile...The mixed messaging is just giving anti-vaxxers more fuel.

I don't know why it's not listed in the site you posted, but I heard the next AZ shipment is in June sometime. By that time, it won't be used for anyone's first dose, so probably it'll be for everyone's second dose.

I went with my gf to her vaccine appointment on Saturday where she got AZ. They told her she would be contacted through the same system that contacted her about the appointment. However, this is through an official vaccine clinic - I believe if you did it via a pharmacy, you need to contact them when it's getting closer to your time.

It may differ by pharmacy, but when I asked about scheduling the second dose they said they would contact me.

These are the questions I would like the media pose to Doug Ford and his cabinet. They seem so focused on proclaiming “everyone” vaccinated by June 20, but that’s ONE DOSE. Does that mean they will start closing the 4-month gap for everyone? What about the first round of people who got their first dose in March and April? Will they be tracked down and given their second dose sooner?
