New player, getting started through Steam

Question

I'm switching from the Xbox version to PC, and I want to make sure I get started correctly. I picked up my PC today, and this is all new to me.

I plan on using Steam, so do I need to do anything on na.wargaming.net? Do I need to create an account there in order to buy Harekaze 1 from the premium shop, or is the premium shop accessible through Steam? I'm switching platforms for the HSF content, so this is very important to me. I don't want to miss out or buy the ships on the wrong account or something.

If I do need to create an account on the na.wargaming site, which should I create first, my Wargaming account, or my Steam account? I don't want to do it in the wrong order and screw up if I need to link them.

Sorry if this is all basic, obvious stuff, but I really have no idea how PC gaming works.

Definitely create the account through Steam, not Wargaming. Steam users get free stuff all the time that WG users don't get. And yes, you can buy Harekaze I through Steam, premium shops works the same.

By the way, after you've created your account remember to accept an invite link for Diana Lima, Warspite, two weeks premium, signals, credits, etc. I've PMed you an invite for NA server. Have fun!

Thank you. I'll create my Steam account tonight and see if I can get started. I don't think I have any PMs, but I'll keep an eye out for it. We don't have Diana Lima on console, but it would be great to have Warspite back, she's one of my favorites.

Hmm, must've forgotten to hit send then or it didn't go through, I'll try it again. By the way, if you're a Verizon customer (or know someone who uses Verizon) you can get Albany, Arizona, and four months premium through the promotion.

Thank you, it looks like the code went through now. I'll be sure to use it.

Awesome. Shoot me a message in game if you ever want to division up, we both get some nice rewards from the recruiting station for doing so.

If you're still interested in the HSF stuff it's going off the store in three days so be sure not to miss it.

Good luck!

I would create the account via wargaming and not via steam.

I'm using Steam so I can use an Xbox controller, that's settled. I just need to know if I need to create accounts with Wargaming and with Steam.

No you don't need to create a separate Wargaming account, just hit log in with Steam after making your Steam account. After entering the game I think the game will prompt you to link your email to your account.

Is there some reason you don't just continue playing the console version which was built for controller support. While I'm sure one could play the game with a controller I don't think it's going to work near as well as mouse and keyboard.

Because console isn't getting the High School Fleet collaboration. I started playing the Xbox version after watching HSF and learning that you could get the ships in the game, but they've never been available on Xbox, and haven't been available on PC for years. I'm not going to miss this chance. I gave the console team as long as I could to make an announcement, but the next console update is in 2 weeks, and the PC HSF collab ends in one week.

I'm almost 100% positive that the game doesn't offer controller support on PC. I play on steam and it's never worked for me
