Carrier# calls my GV while I’m already on GV call, Carrier VM interrupts call

Help / Support

When I answer a call to my GV# on Wifi connected portable house phone, after talking 30 mins or so, my iPhone rings showing I’m calling myself (carrier# calling GV#). If I decline call on iPhone, it hangs up the house phone GV call I’m already on. If I answer, it goes to carrier VM announcement which the other person can hear. If I decline VM by hanging up iPhone call, it hangs up GV call on house phone. Carrier cell service is spotty at home, so I have people always call my GV#. How do I get my iPhone to stop calling myself?

To eliminate a possibility, I would suggest you go to voice.google.com, and turn off "Incoming call options."

I'm not saying this is what's going on, but perhaps you are accidentally hitting the * key mid-call, which would transfer the ongoing call to other phones in your GV account (which includes your iPhone). In fact you should try hitting the * key to see if the symptoms are the same (before turning off "incoming call options").

If the symptoms still continue after you have tried the above, you may have some SIP (something only Google can solve) or network issues.

For troubleshooting purposes I'd temporarily unlink all handsets in your GV account, and also turn off forwarding with the exception of the single phone where you're experiencing this issue, and re-enable forwarding one device at a time and see if the issue returns.

I’ll give these things a try, thanks.

The call options explanation is almost certainly correct.

Some people even accidentally manage to do by managing to get just the right tones while speaking/with background noise, it seemed to happen most frequently with women.
