New victims: Please read first

If you're reading this, you're probably a recent victim of Sextortion and scared out of your mind.

First, take a deep breath…

Hopefully, this sub will be a safe place for you to share your experience and get advice from people that have already gone through what you have.

This post in NOT intended to be the "be-all, end-all" source of information. I'm writing this as an intro to being sextorted. That is all.

First: Let me remind you that this is Reddit and is no substitute for professional help. If you have a lot to lose (marriage, children, a lot of money), consider contacting a professional. If you are feeling suicidal, please, seek immediate help (911, or your countries equivalent, and they will be able to get you help).

Second: Yes, I do recommend that you contact your local law enforcement. They might not be able to help, and they may not be needed, but you should have them on your side, just in case things go sideways.

Third: Beware of additional scammers. You are probably feeling trapped and desperate. The last thing you need is to make things worse by putting your faith in "some dude on Instagram". This sub has been targeted by them in the past, so you need to keep your guard up. If you are unsure, feel free to post the details on what they are proposing, before giving them anything.

Fouth: Dude...she's underage. Yeah...sure she is. This is just an additional pressure tactic. Do not let this dissuade you from calling the police. In the rare case that you knew she was underaged, and you're an actual raging pedophile, well...FU.

What should you do now? Well, I'm not an expert, so please keep that in mind.

If you'd like, you can post your story here. You can use a burner Reddit account, and I'd probably recommend that. You do not want the perpetrator to know how much anguish they are putting you in (if at all). You will probably receive some advice and reassurance. Again, this is Reddit, YMMV.
