Poem For You
Speaking words that might sound right
Thinking things so late at night
Remembrance forgotten as I proceed
Life goes on as I cease to believe
Yes I understand that I know not Yes I understand that I know not
No I can’t keep going on
I just keep flowing on
Like the stream that’s yet to dry
Like the ice that’s yet to melt
Like the love that’s yet to end
Like that of the mourning bird
With his sharp black wings
Upon which ride those yet to know
Upon which ride those past their own
It flies overhead
Undaunted by that which it has raught
The slow beating that accompanies life
It’s ponderous rhythm still yet unsolved
I seek she who knows
I seek her touch
I seek her
The one who knows
The one who knows the words
The words of fatal assonance
That sound wrong
For only one aspect Is right
And that is her
And her holy word
Her word that rings through my head
The word of three letters
So little yet so much
Yes
A word of dissonance
A word of syncopation
A word said to late
A word said to early
A word that signals
A word that halts
A word uttered in hatred
A word with meaning only in love

I really enjoy the imagery and flow of your poem, and I do enjoy the idea. But I'm not sure if i'm 100% getting it. I feel a strong sense of longing with every line, but is it about the connections between people and the word yes? I can see that you're trying to emphasize the many meanings and feelings associated with the word, however I cannot seem to connect it to a bigger idea. It's a beautiful piece though! Just wish there were some stanzas.
